U.S. Embassy Teacher Academy 2007 – Ethnic Visions of the United States of America
October 3–5, 2007

The annual U.S. Embassy Teacher Academy provides up-to-date information on American society and values. The conference atmosphere is one of intense exchange with American specialists in interdisciplinary aspects of politics, economics, and American studies. Lectures and discussions will be in English. This year’s topic will discuss how ethnic groups view the United States in a cultural, political and social context.

Target Group

The Teacher Academy addresses secondary school teachers from all German states, in particular multipliers in the field of English and the Social Sciences, “Fachberater” and “Fachleiter”, secondary school curriculum planners, representatives of ministries of education, textbook writers, and educators. It also welcomes junior teachers (“Referendare”) who can apply directly or be nominated by their advisors.

Costs

The U.S. Embassy covers the costs for the program, the speakers, and most of room and board. Registered participants will have to cover their travel expenses and a conference fee of EUR 60.

By car:
When entering the city, you will reach Wallstraßen which surround the inner city ring of Paderborn. From there you will reach the Liborianum through Heiersstraße or Giersstraße. Drive along Heiersstraße until you reach the street called "An den Kapuzinern". Guests of the Liborianum will find free parking there or on Maspernplatz (Paderhalle, three-minute walk).

 

By train:
From Hauptbahnhof Paderborn it is a 15-20 minute walk. Or take the bus to the stop "Heiersstraße". Pl. see the following website for further instructions: www.padersprinter.de.

Registration

Unfortunately, there are more applicants than space available. Applicants will be notified by mid-September. Please don’t make any travel arrangements before you hear from us. Preference will be given to applicants who intend to stay throughout the entire seminar. You may register until August 17 by filling out the registration form and return it:
