The Wittenberg Summer School 2008
“Vigorous Executive: The President in American Politics and Culture”
The U.S. Embassy in cooperation with the Center for U.S. Studies at the University of Halle-Wittenberg and Magdeburg University’s American Studies Department is hosting the Wittenberg Summer School 2008 with senior faculty from U.S. and German universities. The organizers encourage students from all disciplines, especially American Studies, Cultural Studies and the Social Sciences, from all German Universities to apply to the Summer School. U.S. Presidential Election 2008 - Berlin-Brandenburg School Project
In November 2008, the United States of America will elect a new President. During their party conventions in August and September, the Democratic and Republican party will decide on their respective candidate. Audiences at home and abroad have been following the decision making process with great interest. Leading up to the Presidential Election 2008, the U.S. Embassy in cooperation with LISUM would like to invite Berlin and Brandenburg schools to participate in a school program involving a teacher training seminar and a two-week school project. more »

U.S. Embassy Teacher Academy 2008
Lincoln’s Legacy: Nation Building, Democracy and the Question of Race and Civil Rights
February 12, 2008 marks the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birthday. In anticipation of this event, the conference will explore the implications his presidency has had for the United States and the world in terms of nation building, democratic development and civil rights.
The annual U.S. Embassy Teacher Academy provides up-to-date information on American society and values. The conference atmosphere is one of intense exchange with American specialists on interdisciplinary aspects of politics, economics, and American studies. Lectures and discussions will be in English. more »
