Fees

Fees for Adult Passports
• First adult passport or replacement for lost/stolen/mutilated passport:
$ 100 or EUR 68.00 (which includes a separate security enhancement fee of $12)
• Adult passport routine renewal fee:
$ 75 or EUR 51.00 (which includes a separate security enhancement fee of $12)

Fees for Children's Passports (under 16 years old)
$ 85 or EUR 57.80 (which includes a separate security enhancement fee of $12)

Forms of Payment for Passports in Person

Cash: either U.S. Dollars or Euros, American Express or U.S. Postal Service money orders payable to the appropriate consular office (e.g. American Embassy, Berlin; American Consulate General, Frankfurt; etc.).

Cashier’s check: drawn on an American bank in dollars OR a cashier’s check written in dollars issued by a German bank, drawn on an American bank ("Bankscheck" is the German word). Please note that we cannot accept checks written in euros. All checks must be machine-readable (i.e., have a coded line running along the bottom of the check).

Credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, and NOVUS/Discover

PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. Money orders are also acceptable. See "Forms of Payment for Passports by Mail" for details.

Payment for residents of the Munich consular district: If you pay by cashier's /bank check or money order, please write your American Social Security number on the check/money order. The number is required for electronic processing purposes.
If you do not have an American Social Security number, then we cannot accept a cashier's/bank check or money order from you.

Forms of Payment for Passports by Mail

Money Orders: American Express or U.S. Postal Service money orders payable to the appropriate consular office (e.g. U.S. Embassy, Berlin; Consulate General, Frankfurt; etc.). American Express money orders are sold by many large German travel agencies.

Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, and NOVUS/Discover
When paying by credit card, please include credit card issuer (Mastercard, etc.), date of expiration, card number, and the name of the individual to whom it was issued. Credit Card payment form (pdf).

Cashier's Checks: Cashier's checks drawn on an American bank or cashier's checks issued by a German bank, drawn on an American bank (Bankscheck is the German word for this.) will be accepted. They must be made payable to the appropriate American Consulate General or to the U.S. Embassy Berlin (depending on where you are sending your passport application).
