The Defense Liaison Office (DLO) Bonn was created due to the official move of the U.S. Embassy to Berlin in 1999. The DLO Bonn was established by the U.S. Ambassador during ceremonies held in Bonn, Germany on 1 April 2000.
The DLO is comprised of the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC), Extension of Defense Attaché's Office (DAO) Berlin, Air Force Research and Development Liaison Office (AFRDLO), Army Research, Development and Standardization Group (USARDSG), Air Force Office of Special Investigation (AFOSI), USAREUR Intelligence Liaison Office (USAREUR DCS G-2), the Foreign Agricultural Service, and a support staff (ICASS).
The total number of personnel is approximately 40, which includes approximately 10 foreign nationals. The mission of the Defense Liaison Office is to provide direct support to the U.S. Chief of Mission (Ambassador) by conducting military and civil coordination and liaison with (German) federal, state and local agencies throughout Germany.
Mission Statement
The Mission of ODC Germany is to directly support the security and defense industrial policy objectives of the United States government with the government of the Federal Republic of Germany. ODC Germany accomplishes this by performing actions to support the various elements of the National Security Strategy, the National Military Strategy, USEUCOM’s "Strategy of Engagement and Preparedness," and the Ambassador’s Rolling Policy Agenda.
