About the Initiative
The Department of State has created an online virtual community exclusively for alumni of United States Government (USG) - sponsored programs.
Who is an alumnus(a)?
You are an alumnus(a) of a USG – sponsored program if you have participated in at least one of the following exchange programs:
• Fulbright Exchange Programs • International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) • Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) - Parlamentarisches Patenschafts-Programm (PPP) • Congress–Bundestag/Bundesrat Staff Exchange (CBBSX) • German–American Partnership Program (GAPP) • Eastern German Teachers Visitor Program
Website for Alumni
The "State Alumni – Your Global Community" website has been created by the Department of State to serve all USG-sponsored alumni worldwide.
Features include:
• Posting of Alumni Resumes • Job and Grant Opportunities • Free Journal Database with over 10,000 journals • Discussion Forums • Online Interviews with interesting people (Q&A live) • Calendar of Events • Alumni News • Opportunity for alumni to publish articles • Alumni search tool • Photo Gallery
The emphasis in State Alumni is on user-created content, so members are encouraged to provide calendar listings, job announcements, news, photos, and grant opportunities to the webmaster for posting. We also welcome feedback from users in order to continuously improve the site.

On your first visit you will be asked to register, so please click on the blue-highlighted "Join Now" in the center.
The AGS Community
In addition to the State Alumni website, the German-speaking countries have developed the "AGS Community" serving Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
The AGS Community is tailored to the special needs of the German-speaking alumni community. It contains the same features adapted to serve this community’s needs, e.g. we highlight job and grant opportunities, news, and other features from our region. German-language content is also available.
Please select the "The AGS Community" from the "Communities" drop-down menu in the middle of the State Alumni homepage. You will then be redirected to our subsite. The logo in the upper left hand corner will change to display the AGS Community logo:
