Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Berlin

 

January 22-23, 2008.  Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visited Berlin to attend a P-5+1 meeting, hosted by the German government to discuss how to convince Iran to comply with the international communitys demands regarding its nuclear program. She also attended a P-5+1 dinner on the evening of the 22nd. Secretary Rice met earlier on the 22nd with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Wednesday, January 23, in the morning, before flying on to Davos for the World Economic Forum. » Photo Gallery

Secretary Rice Attends G-8 Meetings in Germany

May 30/31, 2007. On May 30, Secretary Rice attended the G-8 Foreign Ministerial in Potsdam. She also participated in a meeting of the Middle East Quartet. On May 31, she was presented the Eric M. Warburg Award of the Atlantik-Brücke.  Dr. Rice was honored for her special merits and her strong commitment, as a member of the National Security Council of President George H. W. Bush, in supporting German Chancellor Dr. Helmut Kohl to achieve German unification in 1989. The award presentation took place at the castle Neue Kammern in Sanssouci park in Potsdam, and Helmut Kohl delivered the laudation. Secretary Rice met with the Middle East Quartet in Berlin

February 21, 2007. Secretary Rice met with the Middle East Quartet in Berlin to discuss the recent agreement reached by the Palestinian government in Saudi Arabia and the next steps in the implementing the Road Map. In addition, Secretary Rice met with Foreign Minister Steinmeier and Chancellor Merkel.
Secretary Rice was traveling to Iraq, Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Amman, Jordan; and Berlin, Germany; February 16 – 22, 2007. In Jerusalem she held bilateral meetings with both Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as well as a trilateral meeting with President Abbas and Prime Minister Olmert on February 19. In Amman Secretary Rice met with the King Abdullah of Jordan and other members of the Jordanian government. more

Secretary of State Rice in Berlin

January 17/18, 2007. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice meet with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the German Foreign Office in Berlin on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 and with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday January 18, 2007. Before her visit to Germany, Secretary Rice was in the Middle East where she consulted with regional leaders and explored ways to help the parties make progress toward resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, continue discussions on the way forward in Iraq, and advance other issues of regional importance. more

President Bush and Chancellor Merkel Discussed Transatlantic Issues

January 4, 2007. President Bush welcomed Chancellor Merkel of Germany to the White House on January 4, 2007. After talks on a number of security and trade issues of shared interest, they held a joint press conference. President Bush: “This new year marks the beginning of Germany’s presidency of both the EU and the G8. And we just had a wide-ranging discussion about a lot of issues. We talked about the Chancellor's ambitious agenda for both of those leadership roles. We discussed how we can continue to work together to promote prosperity and security and peace.” more
